Serving Jesus through discipleship

When God Isn’t There

Israel has been God’s chosen people since the time of Moses. Even so, when Israel did not obey God, He departed from them. This is brought home in 1 Samuel 28. Saul, the king of Israel was about to go to battle against the Philistines. When he saw the Philistine army he was very afraid. He at this time wanted to consult with God. Samuel God’s prophet was dead. What Saul did was find a medium to call Samuel from the dead so that Saul could consult him about the ensuing battle. Samuel’s words were, “The LORD has done accordingly as He spoke through me; for the LORD has torn the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor, to David. As you did not obey the LORD and did not execute His fierce wrath on Amalek, so the LORD has done this thing to you this day.”

We see that steadfast obedience to God is required if we want His protection. This is true even if we are chosen by Him. When trouble overtakes you, do not expect God to bless you if you have not been true to Him. He won’t be there for you.

That’s my view. What do you think?
