Serving Jesus through discipleship

A Call To Worship

Sing to the LORD a new song;

Sing to the LORD, all the earth.

Sing to the LORD, bless His name;

Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day.

Tell of His glory among the nations,

His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.

For great is the LORD and greatly to be praised;

He is to be feared above all Gods.

        (Psalm 96:1-4)

What is this new song? Are we who know little or nothing about music to sit down and write a song about the Lord our God?

I believe a new song for most of us would be obedience! Can you honestly say that you faithfully obey Jesus’ commandments? How great a tribute to the Lord our God, to follow Him with a humble heart. To publicly praise HIs name. How different it would be if we were to daily proclaim to those around us the good news of His salvation. Would you be proclaimed a kook? Yes! Would anyone seriously listen to you after a while? Maybe, maybe not! When it came time to tell of His wonderful deeds among all the peoples, would you have a story to tell? Can you see what God is doing in the world today? In your country? In your state? In your city? In your community? If the answer is no to all of these questions; if the only story you have is from the bible, then how will people believe what you are saying? Why can’t you see how God is moving today? Are you not looking or are you just not seeing?

If you cannot see what God is doing, then the apostle Paul has some words of advice for you, “Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that your may prove what the will of God is, that which is good, and acceptable and perfect.” I believe that when you see what God is doing; when you can feel God working in your life, you will not be able to keep quiet. You will have to tell of His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.

Do you agree or disagree? Tell me why!
