Serving Jesus through discipleship

Another Puzzle Piece

Today I remind you that all that you are is because of the Lord. He made you. Without His permission, you can accomplish nothing. Without Him, you would starve and be naked. Any successes that you have enjoyed are because the Lord has willed it. Thanks be to God!

Because of this, it is good to fear the Lord. He has blessed you with all that you are, all that you have and all that you dream. He can take that away in a second and leave you in utter devastation. Why do I remind you of this? Today’s reading contains these words:

English: Fear The Lord The left hand of the tw...

English: Fear The Lord The left hand of the two similarly carved stones either side of the west entrance to St Leonard’s Church. 32432 “Fear the Lord your God and serve Him. Hold fast to Him and take your oaths in His name.” Deuteronomy 10:20 (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

“Fear of the Lord is to hate evil; pride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverted mouth I hate. Counsel is mine and sound wisdom; I am understanding, power is mine. By me kings reign, and rulers decree justice. By me princes rule and nobles, all who judge rightly.”

Notice in the above quote that the me is in lower case. The word “me” is not a reference to the Lord but to wisdom. but remember “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.” In Proverbs 9, Solomon states that “Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” You can see there are many “Fear of the Lord is” statements. To understand what fear of the Lord is, the student must be familiar with and understand all of these references and the consequences of applying the principles. All these references are a light to those who would live godly lives. Light your path with the word of God!
