The Knowledge of Evil
How easy it is to delude ourselves. We tell ourselves that we are basically good; that when faced with a decision we will usually choose the better of the options. How can we be so foolish? This applies to the Christian as well as the heathen!
Take. for instance. women’s rights! We, as a culture, think it is right to allow a woman to abort an unwanted baby; to murder that which God created. Not all of us think it is right, but enough so that it is the law of the land. Yet, if we read and understand God’s word, we will learn that it is an abomination to Him. The same thing with gay rights, we have chosen evil over good and in the process turned our backs on God. Even when we oppose these evils, we tend to attack evil with evil. Wasn’t the abortion doctor in Kansas murdered? Haven’t gays been beaten and abused for decades?
Solomon, in Ecclesiastes 5, warns us, “Guard your steps as you go to the house of God and draw near to listen rather than to offer the sacrifice of fools; for they do not know that they are doing evil.” Just as the fool in Ecclesiastes, we do not know that we are doing evil. Rather than fighting evil with evil, learn to fight evil with good and remember only God is good.
